Attention Digital Cable Subscribers - Update

The i-Guide on your set-top box uses Source ID's (SIDs) to receive TV listing data. Rovi has initiated a plan that is going to retire select duplicate SIDS. This will allow for future enhanced features to be available once this plan is complete. One feature will be that the set-top box will know when you are watching a standard definition program while a high definition channel is available. The set-top box will display an on-screen message letting you know there's a high definition option available and can tune to that channel by pressing one button. More features will be released as we become aware of them.

In the meantime, this retiring of SIDs will affect customers who have set parental controls and DVR customers who have series recordings set on these channels.

The channels that will be affected are:
Outdoor Channel
HBO HD
Cinemax
ESPN Classic
The Golf Channel
HBO 2
HBO
The Movie Channel
Showtime 2
Showtime
Starz!
Showtime Showcase
HBO Signature
ESPN News
Starz! InBlack
Game Show Network
Fox Soccer Channel
More Max
Flix
HBO Family

If you have any series recordings set for any of these channels, you will have to reprogram your DVR once the SIDs are retired. At this time the expected date is August 10th, we will continue to keep our customers notified before any changes occur.

Why Fiber-to-the-Premise?

ImageFiber-To-The-Premise (FTTP) extends the Fiber Backbone directly to the property where services are being delivered. This means the property receives the best infrastructure available. As technology advances bandwidth demands rise. With online video games, online streaming movies, and more devices connecting to the internet on average the current copper bandwidth options will eventually be insufficient to handle the demands.

Interactive TV, Home Video Phones, 3-D video content, Smart home services, & telemedicine are all technologies that will be possible in the near future. Falcon Broadband customers on FTTP will be able to utilize the full capability of these technologies.

Falcon Broadband is currently deploying FTTP networks in select areas, so they are ready for the future.
